Obituary
Janice "Jan" W. Carter-Bowden transitioned peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 6, 2025. Jan was the beloved mother of Jasmyn Price (Michael); devoted twin sister of Joy Patterson; and cherished aunt of William (Marlena), and Maurice C. (Nicole) Patterson. She was preceded in death by her parents William and May Bell Carter; and brother-in-law Maurice A. Patterson.
Internment and memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Internment at 11 a.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery (Brentwood, MD), and memorial service at 12:15 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church (Washington, DC).
In lieu of flowers, Jan requested that donations* be made, in her memory, to LaSalle-Backus Elementary School using the donation button below.

Interment/Gravesite Service

• The Internment will take place BEFORE the homegoing service. • At 10:15 a.m., guests may participate in a vehicle procession from Shiloh Baptist Church to Fort Lincoln Cemetery. • Guests DO NOT need to RSVP.
Memorial Service (In-Person)
