Jan was always thinking of others. Always willing to pitch in wherever and whenever help was needed. You will be missed terribly, but never forgotten. Heartfelt condolences go out to Peter during this difficult time. May many fond memories of Jan help ease the pain. Be free my friend, be free... With sympathy, Sheila
I’m sorry to hear the news of Jan’s passing. I always enjoyed our conversations about any and everything. Jan was an open, caring and genuine person, and I will miss her. My condolences to Peter and her family and many friends.
Jan was such a kind and helpful woman. When I started volunteering, she was always around and supportive. Although I hadn't the opportunity to know her deeply, I feel so sadden as the couple times I met her she was warm like sunshine on a rainy day. Always smiling and ready to jump in wherever needed. A perfect example was when we were at the Science and Tech Expo, I spent a day with her for a few hours and she was so supportive to me and my boyfriend and guided us on how to interact with guests and we made some jokes with her. She was always cracking jokes and sharing moments with others in such a comforting way. You will be missed angel. Sending healing to those close to her and we will never forget your radiant energy Jan. Thank you for showing me what volunteering looks like and being a great mentor to me and my boyfriend as we continue to volunteer at Wetlands. Always in our thoughts.
Jan was a tenacious, tough, and frank person. But she also was funny, thoughtful and loyal. I learned much from her when I was working at Wetlands. I admired her and how she kept moving forward, despite the uphill battle she fought. The Wetlands Park has lost a gem of a person. RIP

Jan and I got to hand select taxidermy specimens for our Wetland Creatures of the Night Hike. What an amazing experience.

Performing together, with “Mama Beaver“. 2024 Jan encouraged me to create this marionette with the help of my mother. (she was a bear before she turned into a beaver.)
Jan, my 'soul sister', brought me & the FANTASYMAKERS marionettes to the Wetlands, as a volunteer (2015) I started performing, as she created a craft to go along with my performances. She included me in anything I wanted to do. She told me over & over, how special the marionettes are & encouraged me by spreading the joy through them. Her enthusiumn was contagious. Words cannot express the feeling I have for her. Our 'beaver whisperer". May her family find peace, that includes her family of choice! Hugs everyone! Starr~Light
I met jan during one of my volunteer days and I found her to be a warm and caring soul. May you rest in peace and I will see you one day in God's kindgom. Jordan
My deepest sympathy to Jan's family and friends. I first met Jan in 2021 at Wetlands Park as a new volunteer, helping her with a kids program at the park. She made me feel so welcome to the CCWP team, and will always be appreciated and remembered for that reason. She will be missed from the CCWP staff.
I met Jan in 2021 at Wetlands Park, where she had worked for a number of years. My first impression was that she was easygoing and quick to laughter, but also intelligent and passionate about nature. If I needed help with something, she would drop what she was doing. She knew lots of neat hidden spots in the park that aren't on the map, and would be able to tell you the best place and time of year to find this bird or that flowering plant. Her office was full of thriving plants and interesting props used in her nature programs. I am sure that these qualities extended to all areas of her life because at bottom she came across to me as an exceptionally genuine and authentic person.

Jan I dont want to forget this one. Christmas tea.
I think it will be a long time before the impulse goes away to let Jan know when there's something new to see. She holds a space in my heart and I'll always be reminded of her in a million small ways.
Jan was one of our first mentors in the park, taking us on a plant identification tour of the park and getting us our first real experience with the Wetlands. I remember my first BioBlast where we worked together at the birds nest station, teaching children how to weave their own nests. I really admire how gently she treated those kids. I wish I had gotten to know her more. Rest in peace, Jan.
Jan was a great friend and neighbor. She was always great to talk with and I loved the walks in the park. She loved my art and I loved her. She sent 11 Canada geese over my house yesterday morning. I’ll miss her.
Richard & I have worked with dear Jan when we volunteered at the Wetlands before moving. We always had a wonderful time in her acquaintance and are very very sorry to hear this news.
Dear Jan, I will so miss our breakfast and lunch outings, our day trips and weekend trips, exploration walks in the Wetlands Park with the Wild Women of the Wetlands. You are a unique and special friend. Forever in my heart.

Enjoying a draft overlooking the ocean.

Jan loved adventures and the ocean. These are from our most recent trip to Laguna Beach. ❤️
Just remembering all the nice times I spent with Jan makes me smile. Her loveliness and easy kindness made every day better. I'll always remember going on some of the Wild Women of the Wetlands hikes. She was a friend to everyone and a beautiful person. I remember taking the National Association for Interpretation training with her. We worked so hard and our final presentations were really a challenge. Jan was so nervous because she cared so much and wanted to succeed. She did great but the thing that stuck with me all these years is her work ethic and willingness to do whatever it took to achieve. And all the while remaining the kind hearted woman she was. I miss her and all her Wetlands family.
Jan, your beautiful soul was a constant source of inspiration. Your welcoming smile and the sweetie and warm hug you always had for me, and everyone was a true reflection of your kindness. The time we spent at the Wetlands, surrounded by you and our Wetlands family, will always be cherished with love and warmth. Your dedication to nature and your friends was genuinely contagious. The connection of cherished friendships is unbreakable. Nothing can break the bond of loved ones' souls. My dear friend, I will always carry you with me, and the memories we shared will endure forever.

Jan always had a smile and would do anything to help out. She was a wetlands treasure. Bob and I will greatly miss her. Our love and prayers to Jan and Peter.
being a volunteer and helping children are very good things to be remembered for. rest in peace.
When I worked with Jan three years ago, she was a source of inspiration for me. The passion she put towards the park and the education and crafts she developed and did with kids did not go unnoticed, and I’m proud to have worked by her the two years I was there. What a privilege. Condolences to her family, to Peter, and those at the park right now. I believe she looks on and will continue to watch over the park and those who love it as much as she did.

WE ARE SO SAD TO HEAR OF JANS PASSING. WE HAVE SHARED SO MANY ENJOYABLE TIMES WITH HER . SHE DEFINITELY WAS A LOVELY, FRIENDLY LADY. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH PETER AND THE REST OF THE WETLANDS FAMILY.
She was a terrific partner...my love for her and our memories together will be a part of my life forever...there was only one Jan.
