May 20, 1967 — March 21, 2024
James Woodrow Richbourg, 56, of Clifton, Virginia passed away on March 21st, 2024 after battling cancer since 2019. His loss has greatly impacted the community and his family is profoundly saddened.
Jim was born on May 20th, 1967 to Lynne and Don Richbourg in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was the second of four boys; Steve, Tom, and Matt. Growing up in Vienna, Virginia; Jim was known for his mischievous behavior, sense of humor, and fun-loving attitude. He attended Radford and George Mason University where he started on both baseball teams. He received his Bachelor's degree from George Mason University and his Masters of Business Administration from Averett University.
Jim married Holly Ann Lavalle on July 23rd, 1994, and soon after moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. In Virginia Beach, he began to build a career and family, together with his wife, Holly, and two children, Kyle and Paige. Jim was an exemplary husband, father, and human being. He embodied some of the best qualities; unconditional love, strength, and unparalleled caring for the people in his life, which could be seen in his relationships with his family and friends.
He started off working at Beach Ford, in Virginia Beach. While in Virginia Beach he and his wife Holly built their own home while expanding their circle of loved ones before moving back to their hometown area in Northern Virginia in 2004. He worked as a project manager for several construction companies while still finding time to be a coach to both of his children during youth sports and their number one fan in both of their college careers. He continued working throughout his battle with cancer, he worked for GCS Sigal, who was absolutely amazing throughout the entire process. He was determined to stay active and keep fighting for his family.
His departure came more suddenly than expected, and it is immensely felt by his entire family and the countless others he connected with through his extraordinary journey. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.
Jim is survived by his wife Holly, son Kyle, and daughter Paige, his three brothers Steve, Tom, and Matt, and his parents Lynne and Don. His memorial service will be held March 26th, at Vienna Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM.
