Celebrating the Life of
September 12, 1952 — April 20, 2023
Jack was born on September 12, 1952 in McBain, Michigan and attended McBain Highschool. From a young age, Jack proved he was a gifted musician and performer. After graduation, Jack went on to enjoy a lengthy career as a musician and songwriter, becoming most recognized for his 1966 recording, “Born to Wander”. Jack also spent many years studying opera and his smooth, powerful voice became a recognizable sound to many. A graduate of Grand Valley State University’s School of Business, Jack recently completed a degree in paralegal studies. Jack was an accomplished author and estate planner. Above all, Jack was an adoring father and grandfather and considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest accomplishment.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents and beloved aunt Leona; sister Darlene Beleau and brother, William Wood as well as his grandchild, Nicole Spivey. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his children Lisa (B.J.) Morowitz; children Amanda, Monica and Aaron; Terri (Michael) Spivey; children Dixie and Tiffany; Jack (Karen) Wood; children Logan and Nolan; Davina (Nicolas) Bryan; children Madyson, Leona, Vivian and Graysen; sister Diane Jensen and nieces Gwen and Ruth.
A private memorial will be held for friends and family in June at Pietros of Grand Rapids.
Jack was an eloquent writer and an insightful advisor, quick witted and gentle natured. His strength, courage and kindness will be missed by many and his voice will be missed by all.
