October 22, 1933 — April 22, 2024
Jack Roland Cooley, age 90, passed away at Hillsdale Hospital on Monday, April 22, 2024. He was born to Fred Cooley and Eva (Cooley) Ball in Jackson on October 22, 1933. He married Deanna on February 26, 1971, and she survives.
He attended Addison High School before serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Jack spent his career working as a semi-truck driver until his retirement, and then spent his time as a handyman to many. You could always find Jack with a smile on his face and making conversation with new and old friends. He was a talented woodworker and a member of the Hillsdale Masonic Temple for 50 years. He also served on the Board of the Hillsdale Rural Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Deanna Cooley; seven children, Jill (Dale) Gonshorowski of Hillsdale, Penny (Dennis) Osmun of Kalamazoo, Mike (Peggy) Cooley of Ann Arbor, Alan (Jackie) Cooley of Ada, Holland (Mariam) Cooley of Arkansas, Glenn Cooley of Grand Rapids, and Scott (Monica) Cooley of California; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, two sisters, Carleen Woody, and Nina Hellner; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Ball.
Preceding Jack in death are his mother and stepfather, Eva, and Berkley Ball; one brother, Jay Ball; one brother-in-law, Gary Hellner, and one great-grandson, Ryker Wilkinson.
There will be a celebration of life for Jack Cooley on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at 1:00 PM at 4400 S. Lake Wilson Road in Hillsdale. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
