Irene Joan Goclon (née Bartold), 96, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Deerfield Beach, FL. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 1, 1927 to Henry and Rose (nee Staron) Bartold. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Raymond Joseph Goclon Sr. Surviving are her children Pamela Wild and husband Chris, Deerfield Beach, FL, Raymond Goclon, Galloway, NJ, John Goclon, Deerfield Beach and grandchildren Justin Wild, Marquette, MI, Andrea Durando, Cape Coral, FL, and Michael Goclon, Salt Lake City, UT.
As a young woman, Irene worked in New York City as a Secretary for an African Steamship Company. She married Raymond Joseph Goclon in 1947 and they moved to West Long Branch, NJ. Irene continued to commute to NYC until the first of her three children were born. She then was a full time Mom, always interested in her children and their activities. The family were members of St. Jerome Church, West Long Branch, NJ, where all three children attended school. She volunteered in many capacities throughout their school years. She went back to work after the children were grown as a secretary for WRLB radio station in Long Branch, NJ. She always had time for friends and family, and we always sought her wise counsel. She never shied away from volunteering her help to the many organizations she and Ray belonged to. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, gardener, hostess, friend, but especially a Mom.
Upon retirement she and Ray moved to Breezy Hill Park in Pompano Beach, FL where they enjoyed many years and many senior activities. In 2019 she moved to Century Village East in Deerfield Beach, FL with her family.
Memorial service for Irene will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 380 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL on Thursday, Sep 12th at 9:30 am. Burial service will be private.
In Mom's last months she was visited weekly for church communion and was taken care of by In-Home Hospice.
