August 14, 1922 — May 2, 2024
Imogene Biggs, née Larmond, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024, at the age of 101, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hatfield, Manchester, Jamaica, on August 14, 1922, Imogene was the cherished daughter of Gerthude and Fred Larmond.
Imogene's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and dedication to her family. She married the late Arthur Biggs, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1975, and together they nurtured a beautiful family of seven children: Dacosta (and Janet), Delores (and Manley), Trevor (and Aliza), Patrick (and Joyce), Winston (and Silvia), and Victor (and Brigette). In addition to her own children, Imogene also lovingly cared for Pearl Crawford, Iceline Grant, Novelette (Kenute) Francis, and Tyrone Thompson.
In 1969, Imogene bravely embarked on a new chapter in her life, migrating to the United States in pursuit of a better life for all her children. There, she worked tirelessly as a Certified Nursing Assistant, providing care and comfort to those in need. After years of hard work, she retired and returned home to Jamaica in May of 1989, where she became an active member of St. Mark's Anglican Church and the community of Browns Town, St. Ann.
Imogene's legacy extends far beyond her immediate family of 5 generations (21 grandchildren, leaves behind a vast network of 75 grand, great-grandchildren, and in-laws, each touched by her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. Imogene was known for her caring nature, quick wit, and fierce advocacy for her beliefs and justice.
Though she may have left this world, Imogene's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will forever be cherished and remembered.
In honoring Imogene's memory, let us strive to carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity, making the world a better place, just as she did throughout her remarkable life.
