Celebrating the Life of
October 20, 1976 — July 4, 2023
Gregory (Greg) Matthew Dunbar passed away on July 4, 2023 at the age of 46, surrounded by loved ones following a difficult health battle. He now rests peacefully with our ancestors and beloved animals who have crossed over.
Greg was born in Waterville, Maine October 20, 1976. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Bard Dunbar and his three beautiful daughters Lauren, Jacklyn, and Natalie. Also, his father and mother Jim and Karen Anderson Dunbar, sister Nicole Dunbar, many nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and his sweet pup, Tucker.
He is lovingly remembered by all who met him, especially for his kind and gentle spirit. He inherited his quirky sense of humor from his grandfather Alverne (Andy) S. Andeson. His sweet energy and unwavering love remain with us all.
Greg was an avid sports enthusiast with a great love for baseball, basketball and fly fishing. His lifelong friendships began early on the baseball fields of Winslow, Maine. He was a steadfast fan of his daughters on the court, softball and soccer fields. Greg was a brilliant engineer/project manager working on complex projects, leading teams and respected by all who met him.
Special thanks to the wonderful, brilliant doctors and nurses from the UMASS Memorial Medical Hospital in Worcester, Mass.
There will be a celebration of life for Greg held in Winslow, Maine on July 29 with friends and family. If you would like to attend, please contact Nicole Dunbar for details at [email protected]

We are so very sorry for your loss. May warm memories guide you all through this most difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
I was so very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. I unfortunately didn’t know him very well. Living in CT I only got to see Greg and Rachel occasionally. However you didn’t have to be with Greg but for a short time to realize what a sensitive loving person he was. My heart goes out to Rachel and her girls as well as the entire Bard and Dunbar families. Great Aunt Jacki
Jim, Karen Nicole,Rachel and daughters. So sorry to hear of the passing of Greg. He was always such a sweet young man who played baseball with and always made her feel welcome in a pre dominated boys sport. May all your wonderful memories help in this difficult time. Juliette Akins
My deepest condolences to the entire family. I've known Greg for virtually my entire life and was privileged to call him my friend. I will miss you buddy, until we meet again.
There are no words, just heartfelt pain for all of you. My deepest sympathies and love.
Greg was my friend for 40 years who I considered a Brother. My wife and I loved sending him pictures of where we were hiking and 99% of the time he would guess where it was. Our thoughts are with Jimmy, Karen, Nicole, Rachel and the kids. Please let us know if you ever need anything. Max and K
