Granville Charles Lee Sr. was born to the late James C and Elizabeth J. Lee on October 5, 1946. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 6, 2020.
Granville received his elementary and junior high school education in the District of Columbia Public School system, with completion at Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School in 1965. He pursued undergraduate study at the University of District of Columbia and received the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1978. He continued with post graduate studies at the Washington Saturday College (Howard University) and received the Masters Degree in Theology. His thirst for education motivated him to attend Trinity College, Washington DC, where he received the Masters Degree in Education.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Uniformed Division of Secret Service covering the White House and Presidential detail, as well as all the Embassies in Washington DC He later taught Mathematics at Francis Junior High School in the District of Columbia where he developed strong and long lasting relationships with students and parents.
On August 20,1966, Granville entered into holy matrimony with Elsie Louise Breeding, and from this union Granville Charles Lee, Jr. and Elsie Michelle Lee were born. He married Carla Denise Graham on February 12, 1977 and from this union Geoffrey Carlton and Gilbert Christopher were born. On October 11, 1989, he married Carol Ann Flagg and embraced her two children, ElvonneKismet and Kymal Ra'shad Flagg -Webster. Krystal Lorraine Lee was born from this union.
Granville accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Southeast DC. He moved with his parents to Vermont Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed worshiping at Greater Mt Calvary Holy Church. After completing his theological education, Granville served on the ministerial staff at Hemingway AME Church. During his latter years he was an active member of Community of Hope AME Church in Iverson Mall until his health declined.
He loved skiing, swimming, tennis, basketball, roller skating, riding motorcycles, and he was a dynamo on the dance floor. He was a true sports enthusiast, being a ride-or-die “Skins” fan. He was an avid reader and he loved all kinds of music. He lived an active and fun filled life until his health caused him to reside in long term care facilities until his peaceful transition to eternal life. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
He leaves To cherish precious memories, his children Granville C Lee, Jr. (Tomara), Michelle Elsie Lee, Geoffrey C Lee(Alexandrea), Gilbert C. Lee, Krystal L Lee (Diamond), Evonne Kismet and Kymar Ra'shad Flagg Webster; devoted brother, Orlando W.E. Lee (Nancy); grandchildren, - Adrianna, Jerrod, Brittani, Noah, Chloe, Kimora, Daquan, Zaire, and Ciara, Kameron, Shayla and Sonya, a very dear and devoted friend, Minnie Harmon and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
