GD Ghattamaneni Durga Prasad

Captain GD (Ghattamaneni Durga) Prasad, age 71, passed away on July 13, 2022, in Hyderabad. He was born on June 9, 1951, in Masulipatnam to Shri Gopala Krishna Ghattamaneni and Smt Lakshmi Punnamma. He served as an officer in the Indian Navy and a Captain in the Merchant Navy for many years. He enjoyed travel, yoga, meeting up with old friends, visiting his Goddaughter and her family, and spending time in Palani at Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple. He will be remembered for his hearty laugh, strong personality, and loving heart. His family will fondly recall the many times he played with his goddaughter and her siblings, giving into their every whim, even if it meant dancing ballet or catching them endless times from the slide. They will miss their nightly phone messages and video calls full of laughter and love. Prasad was predeceased by his mother, father, and sister Usha Rani, and is survived by his sisters Jayashree Ramappa and Padma Mahendra, his Goddaughter Ayana Lakshmi Pattipati, many nieces and nephews, a younger brother, and their children. Unfortunately, Covid may have kept our family away from Prasad in his last moments, but we can only hope that our love and strong connection reached across these physical barriers.
