Evelyn Eaton

Evelyn Faye Bowman Eaton, 69 of Lovington, NM was called home by her Heavenly Father on the morning of January 13, 2023 to reunite with her beloved husband, her precious family, and her friends she lost along the way. Evelyn was born on December 8, 1953 in Stanton, Texas to Matt Edward and Naomi Faye Warden Bowman. She was of the Pentecostal Christian Faith and former President of the Women’s Ministries at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church in Velma Oklahoma. She loved her Lord and Savior and took great pride in serving her church congregation and community. She retired as a Waitress in Lovington New Mexico where she was loved and admired by her co workers and her many returning customers. One of those regulars being Brian Urlacher, a former Linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Urlacher frequented The Main Street Cafe while he attended school in Lovington. Never was there an empty cup or glass on her watch and always served them up with the sunshine in her smile. In her younger years she was a member of The Singing Mountain Toppers, a family Traditional Gospel group. She traveled with the group to churches and singing events around Arkansas and was included on the Family LP Album “Crossing Over Jordan”. She loved to sing and that passion was passed along to both her children and grandchildren. After she says her hellos and catches up with her family and friends in that Golden City, Its a guarantee she will gladly take her place in the Heavenly Choir and sing that song that even the Angels can not sing. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Garrie Lee Eaton,4 brothers, Donald Bowman,Omer Bowman, Roy Bowman, and Bill Bowman. Evelyn is survived by 2 daughters, Amy Henderson of Flowermound, Texas, Stacie Ponder and husband Brian of Hobbs, New Mexico. 1 son Don Simpson Jr. Of Ozark, Arkansas. 2 step sons, Robert Eaton of Kansas City Missouri and James Eaton of Calumet Oklahoma. 2 sisters, Pat Jeter of Ruidoso New Mexico and Roselva Villegas of Odessa Texas. And 1 brother, Elvin Bowman of Heavener Oklahoma. Evelyn loved all of her Grandchildren and would have wanted all of them mentioned. 6 granddaughters Breeanna Inman, Micah Aguinaga, Amaya Ponder, Megan Eaton, Kayla and Kyla Frad. 4 grandsons,Joshua Ponder, Jordon Ponder, Zach Eaton and Liam Eaton. And 4 great grandchildren, Baylin Auguinaga, Grainger Old, Sophia Ponder, Daniel Hernandez, and one on the way, Alana Ponder. A viewing will be from the hours of 1 PM to 7 PM at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington New Mexico on Tuesday January 17, 2023 Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday January 21, 2023 at the Full Gospel Temple with Reverend C.E. Simpson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mt. View Cemetery in Ozark, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
