Donna Steven's Obituary
Donnamae Mildred Fender Stevens, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home in New Port Richey, FL. She was born March 27, 1936 in St. Paul, MN.
Donnamae is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edwin E. Stevens Jr., and her five children: Cynthia Stevens, Edwin Stevens III, Scott Stevens, Timothy Stevens and David Stevens. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Callaghan, Jessica Altimus, Dana Bondarevsky, Daniel Stevens and Elias Stevens, as well as three great-grandchildren: Dylan Callaghan, Hailey Callaghan, and Colson Altimus. Donna was grateful for her three daughters-in-law also: Lynn Clark Stevens (married to Scott), Michelle Evans Stevens (married to David) and Lisa Daniels Stevens (married to Timothy.)
Donna and Edwin were married in Roseville, MN on October 15, 1955 and immediately left for Texas where Edwin served in the Army. They moved to Waukesha Wisconsin in 1956, where Edwin was commander of the local Nike missile site. After the military, Edwin became a Boy Scout executive in Austin Minnesota, and Donnamae fulfilled her dream of being a stay-at-home mother with (eventually) five young children. They lived in Duluth, MN, then Bismarck ND and Fargo ND as Ed’s position with the Boy Scouts advanced.
In 1971 they moved the family to a Christian Retreat Camp in northern Minnesota, where Ed was head of a maintenance crew and Donna was one of the camp cooks. In 1978 they moved to Safety Harbor, Florida to be near Donna’s elderly parents. Ed became the Human Resources director for a chain of convenience stores, and Donna went to nursing school to become an LPN. She worked at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater for a year or so, but eventually found her niche as a hospice nurse. In 1991 they moved to New Port Richey, FL.
In 1999, Donna and her daughter Cynthia started an online mail order business through eBay, which quickly became a full time job for both of them. Donna retired in 2012 for health reasons.
Donna’s faith was a key part of her life. She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior when she was 16, at a Billy Graham crusade, and later she committed her life to Christ again when she was 32 years old. She was grateful for her Christian heritage: godly parents and grandparents who had an influence on her. Her greatest desire was that all her family would know the Lord also.
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Memorial Service was on Monday, March 6 at 10:30 am at the White Chapel & Harbor Hall, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
