In Loving Memory of Donald H. Elliott
February 18, 1928 - May 12, 2023
He was 95 years of age.
Predeceased by his wife, Mary, after 66 years of marriage; his three siblings Ruth, Bobby and Betty (he was the oldest child); and his parents, Nelson and Edna Elliott
Three Children: Donna, Richard and Douglas
Seven Grandchildren: Michael, Julie, Kari, Kristin, Scott, Kevin and Lisa
Eight Great-Grandchildren: Mason, Connor, Nora, Emma, Owen, Maggie, Heath and Avery
He was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) while employed by Eastman Kodak Co. as an electrical technician. Eventually he retired from Kodak after 37 years, at the ripe young age of 51! And yes, he did start working at Kodak as a co-op student at age 14. Soon after his retirement, he and his wife Mary moved to sunny Largo, Florida, and attributed his “good health” to now living in "The Sunshine State."
In his younger years, he loved having anything with “wheels." He had an Indian (brand name) motorcycle; he was a part-time stock car driver/pit crew member for local tracks, and drove on the Daytona Beach sand and street tracks before there was a Daytona Speedway. He owned a few antique automobiles through the years, including a 1907 Maxwell and a 1931 Model A Convertible, both of which were in museum-quality condition. Speaking of wheels, he rode his bike almost every day right up until the time he was 95 years old!
He was an avid, competitive euchre and bridge card games player and a NASCAR enthusiast. He and Mary enjoyed traveling the world extensively during retirement and sailed so many cruises all over the world that it’s difficult to know just how many they went on.
He had a unique interest in animals, both domesticated (dogs) and wild (African Safari), with a long standing subscription to National Geographic so that he could read all about them.
We dedicate this song to him: ["My Way" by Frank Sinatra] (https://youtu.be/Qp6D71kQRhA). He certainly did do it his way!!
