Dixie Rosemary (Fox, Cox) Shoemaker passed away on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024.
Born in Pomona, CA on February 29th, 1940, Dixie was the youngest daughter of Ira Fox Jr. and Lottie (Winter) Fox. Preceded in death by her parents and sister Martha Lee Wilkinson, husbands Jack Cox and Harold Shoemaker.
Dixie is survived by daughter Erin (Cox) Wilson (Michael), son Kelly Cox (Christina), daughter Wanda (Shoemaker) Woods, daughter Teresa (Shoemaker) Enders (Mike), and son Dagwood Shoemaker.
Altogether she has 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Dixie married Jack Cox on April 9th, 1959 at Thousand Pines Baptist camp in Crestline, CA. She met Harold when he was her boss at The Package Station in Columbus, OH in 1989, and after Jack's passing, they married May 16th, 1997 at First Baptist Church in Westerville, OH.
Dixie was a part of the first graduating class of Rim Of The World high school in Lake Arrowhead, CA in 1957, and graduated from San Bernadino Valley College in 1959 with a degree in Fine Arts. She created art work for the churches she attended, and did calligraphy and painting on consignment. She won several awards for her painting at the yearly Westerville Art League spring show. She was a member of Grace Fellowship church in Westerville from 1976-2024 , being the head of the kitchen for church socials for 40 years.
Dixie loved and appreciated art work, traveling America with Jack, and The Holy Land and Europe with Harold. She raised African violets for over 50 years. Over time, Dixie raised four Basset Hounds, whom she adored. She cherished her family and loved to spend time with them.
The Lord saved Dixie at 8 years old, and dedicated her life to praising Him and bringing others to know Him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dixie 's name to Grace Fellowship church in Westerville.
Dixie is donating her body to OSU Medical Research. Afterwards she will be buried with Harold at Blendon Township Cemetery.
