Deborah Lynn Mock passed away in her home on Mill Street on December 5, 2024. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and she was a beloved fixture of both Mill Street and Putnam Valley. Born on June 23, 1955, to Alice and Charles Mock, Deborah was the eldest sibling of James, Linda, and Robert Mock. With deep love and devotion, she took great pride in caring for her siblings and guiding them through life.
Deborah's love extended to her role as an aunt, a role in which she truly excelled. She was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews: Jamie Mariconda and her spouse Gerard Mariconda, Jason Mock, Matthew Smith, and Nicholas Mock. Throughout their lives, Deborah shared both grand adventures and simple moments of joy with them. Her unwavering presence in their lives was a constant source of love, wisdom, and stability.
A devoted daughter, Deborah took on the role of caregiver for her mother, Alice Mock (Kiessling), lovingly tending to her until her passing in 2017. She also cared for her uncle, Fred Kiessling until his passing, showing unwavering dedication to her family’s well-being.
Deborah's life was a beautiful testament to the power of community and lifelong friendships. A devoted member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Putnam Valley, she remained deeply connected to the place she called home. From her early years at Putnam Valley Elementary School to her time at Lakeland High School, she formed lasting friendships that enriched her life. Deborah’s spirit of service shone through in her many contributions, including volunteering with the local historical society. She was one of the rare few who nurtured deep, enduring connections, creating a community of friends who comforted and celebrated each other through every chapter of life. Her legacy is one of love, friendship, and unwavering support, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Professionally, Deborah enjoyed a long career at Pace University, where she earned her Master's degree in Information Technology. She was proud of her academic achievements and continued learning throughout her life, pursuing interests such as photography and literature. She had the honor of hearing inspiring speakers like Eli Wiesel and Temple Grandin, and forged lifelong friendships with colleagues who became like family. Deborah retired from Pace at age 62, having made a lasting impact on the university community.
Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to others will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Deborah’s love, wisdom, and selfless care will remain an enduring part of the lives of her family, friends, and community.
Deborah is lovingly remembered by her siblings, James and Robert, and their wives, Maria and Suzanne. She is also survived by her niece, Jamie Mariconda, and her husband, Gerard, along with their daughters, Isabella and Rebecca. Her nephews, Jason Mock and his sons, Joseph and Charlie; Matthew Smith and his partner, Emily Holloway; and Nicholas Mock, as well as a close-knit network of friends, will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
