Celebrating the Life of
November 29, 1954 — April 17, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Deborah Ann Pasteur, who passed away on April 17, 2024 at the age of 69. Deb (aka Debbie), as she was fondly known, was born on Nov 29, 1954 in Bayboro, N.C. to Joseph Henry Pasteur Sr. & Mildred Norvella (Hines) Pasteur, the 11th of 12 children. She grew up on Cedar St. in Beaufort, alongside her siblings. She attended East Carteret High School and went on to Fayetteville State University, where she was a member of Swing Phi Swing Sorority and graduated with a degree in History. Deb spent most of her working career employed by Carteret County Recreation Department, where she retired as Director of Parks & Recreation after over 30 years of service. She especially enjoyed running the senior games and Special Olympics for the Rec Dept. After retirement she moved to Durham, N.C. where she attended Pilgrim United Church of Christ, and served on their Board of Christian Service. She lived her last few years of retirement in Sarasota, Fla, where she served on the City’s Parks, Recreation & Environmental Protection Advisory Board. Deb loved tennis and spent most of her free time on the courts when she wasn’t attending professional tennis tournaments in the US and abroad. She also enjoyed music, travel and nature photography. Deb is survived by siblings: George (Theresa) Pasteur, Alice Edmonson, Ernest (Michelyn) Pasteur, Joy Pasteur and Patricia Pasteur. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her loss. Deb was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph Henry Pasteur, Jr and John Robert Pasteur; and her sisters, Evelyn Pasteur Valentine, Josephine Young, Mildred Delores Pasteur and Ketina Pasteur. Deb will always be in our hearts and memories, may her soul rest in eternal peace. A celebration of Deb’s life will be held at Queen Street Missionary Baptist Church, 510 Queen St., Beaufort, N.C. on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

“There are some who bring a Light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the Light remains.” One of the best parts of my life was the friendship I shared with Deb. She was a kind and an amazing friend who added so much light throughout our almost 65 years of friendship. A friendship that was never diminished by time or distance. My life was so much better because she was in it. In fact, it was Deb who encouraged me to go to college, the first in my family to do so. As usual, she gave awesome advice! I will truly miss her. While my heart is heavy, but my spirits are high. My Auntie LIVED her life. She championed for the aged, was well traveled and followed well the Pasteur creed of leaving all she met with their dignity in tact and a smile in their 💕. Her smile will surely be missed....BIGG HUGGS. Ketina Pryor aka "Kitty"
