Celebrating the Life of
February 21, 1951 — February 14, 2024
David "Dave the Plumber" Lee Hanger flipped one final bird to the the world when he passed in Richardson, Texas on February 14, 2024, just one week shy of his 73rd birthday.
Dave is survived by his wife Sandra, of Dallas, and his son and daughter-in-law David and Jen, of Richardson. He was born on February 21, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lloyd and Helen Hanger. A stellar athlete, Dave was on the basketball, football, and wrestling teams at Decatur Township Junior High and the basketball, track, and football teams at Decatur Central High School.
After serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, Dave found himself in Dallas, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Sandra. They married on August 13, 1982 and two years later had their son, David Ellis Hanger, on November 22, 1984. Dave's athletic talents would serve him well as he proudly coached David's basketball and soccer teams at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Dave took his duties as Mayor of Aintree Circle very seriously, and he could often be found keeping watch over the neighborhood from his front porch. Technology wasn't his best friend, but Dave Maps will always beat Google Maps when it comes to accuracy and knowledge of Dallas neighborhoods - including knowing where the best chili dogs can be found. In addition to being known as the best plumber in all of Dallas, Dave will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor and, above all, his incredible kindness and generosity. For those he loved and even those he didn't know, Dave was always willing to lend a helping hand (including telling you how you were doing things incorrectly). While he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the fond memories we have with him. Dave left an indelible impression on everyone he met and will be missed dearly.

Dave was one of my Best friends and fishing buddy. We had the best of times fishing for fun and entering Bass contests. Dave was also my lifeline when I needed a plumber to service my many properties at a beck and call. I will miss him dearly !
I’ve know Mr Hanger for as long as I can remember. From playing against David in soccer as 4/5 year old and hearing Mr Hanger bark coaching points to celebrating turning 18 with David and Mr Hanger in style to him fixing my DIY home plumbing mistakes. He was never short on colorful jokes / advice as I bet most know! He was a true gem of a person and is missed greatly! Big hugs to Sandra and David. Love y’all, Andrew Rehwinkel
I got to know Dave in 2014 when my daughter Allison Johnston bought her house across the street from Dave on Aintree Circle. he was out in his yard and I went over and introduced myself to him when I was working on Allison's house remodel. He told me he was a plumber and if we needed any help he was around. He would come over from time to time while we were working on the house. When Allison remodeled her master shower, Dave redid the plumbing. I would make a point to go over and visit Dave when I saw him outside on the porch. Over the years we became good friends and greatly appreciated his friendship and vigilance over the neighborhood. He was always a calming force and very knowledgeable about construction and how to do things around a house. He will be sorrowfully missed and the Mayor of Aintree Cirle. Thank you for all your help over the years. Allison and Chip Johnston
