Celebrating the Life of
October 3, 1962 — October 11, 2024
The infinitely unforgettable Connie Lynn Rushton was born Connie Lynn Glaze in Wharton, TX on October 3, 1962.
She passed October 11, 2024 at the age of 63, eight short days after her birthday in Lexington, SC.
Connie met Jessie Rushton in the winter of 1986 when her father brought him to dinner. Jessie asked her on a date and the rest is a historical love story that spanned nearly forty years. Connie often described Vietnam veteran Jessie as "the most handsome man I've ever seen," and often remarked "I've never loved another man like I love him."
Their love brought forth a tenacious, defiant daughter in 1989 named Amanda. Connie and Jessie were married April 19, 1989 and cared for and challenged each other ever since.
Connie was never alone in life, having incredible support from her parents, dearly departed Ruby and Walton Wood. She was also always able to rely on her brother, dearly departed Randolph Glaze for a giggle and a smile.
Remaining here a while longer with more earthly work to be done is her eternally supportive brother, Donald Glaze and his caring wife, Sherrill.
Connie also had incredible coworkers and friends, such as the wonderful George Beard, loving and kind Melissa Griffin-Pewitt, and the always hilarious and supportive Tonia Gleaton. Connie was beaten to Heaven by her friend, Kevin Skelton.
Also remaining here a while longer is her daughter and spitting image, Amanda Rushton. Already defying many odds in life, Amanda has vowed to live a life her mother would be proud of. Amanda also introduced Connie to her "new favorite," already proclaimed son-in-law, Benjamin Heeter.
Connie enjoyed cats, butterflies, the color pink, and always building her relationship with her family, adopted family, and God. She did not have grandiose or unattainable dreams, often saying "all I want out of life is to be comfortable, and help." What she could have never known was how much a hero she would become.
Connie Rushton donated the gift of sight to someone after her passing as well as aided a mortuary program to teach students. While she will never wear her cape, we will always recognize her for it.
The incredible, devoted, loyal, and giving mother is survived by Jessie Rushton, her lifelong sweetheart and the man who kept her on her toes; Amanda Rushton, her astonishing daughter who challenged her faith and defied all odds; Donald Glaze, her brother and fellow star on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
Family and friends are invited to share memories with Amanda, as she writes an anthology of stories and memories.
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.

I barely knew her long enough... Mama and I finally started getting close five years ago. Our lives came together and we became close just in time. Pinky promise, I love you.
