Colleen April Vanover (Rose) passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Ontario, California. Born on June 3, 1947, to Isobel (Rowan) and Eugene Rose in Taunton, Massachusetts, Colleen’s life was marked by dedication to her family and a deep commitment to helping others.
Colleen devoted more than thirty years of her career as a teacher’s assistant in special education. Her work touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, reflecting her patience and unwavering support for those who needed it most. Through her long tenure in education, she became a valued presence in the classroom and an advocate for children with special needs.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert Darrell Vanover; her children: Robert (Deanna), Mark, and Alicia; her grandchildren: Travis (Amber), Brandon, and Kyle; and her great-grandchild Miles. She also leaves behind a supportive group of relatives including five sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Colleen’s family was central to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Outside of her professional life, Colleen found joy in reading and doing puzzles—activities that reflected her curiosity and love of learning. She also enjoyed traveling, embracing new experiences and places whenever she could.
Colleen April Vanover will be remembered for the positive impact she made both at home and in her community. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
A celebration of life for Colleen will take place on February 24, 2026, at 1:00pm at Upland Hills Country Club. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed. Lunch will be provided. Colleen’s favorite tunes from the 50’s and 60’s will be roaring as we celebrate her.
