Celebrating the Life of
June 29, 1961 — May 23, 2026
Born in Neptune, New Jersey, Cheryl fell in love with the beach as she grew up along the shores of Avon-by-the-Sea. She happily spent her childhood enjoying the sights along the boardwalk, the warmth of the sunshine on her skin and the sweet taste of saltwater taffy.
She moved with her family to North Seattle area in later elementary years. As she grew older and became more independent, she loved exploring the city. Throughout her childhood, she would continue to return to Avon-by-the-Sea to spend summers on the beach with her Gram.
While attending Snohomish High School, she met Ivan Phillips, whom she married, and they shared the adventure of parenthood with their four kids. Later, Cheryl remarried to Kevin Rourke and together they shared nearly three decades as spouses, longtime companions and friends.
Cheryl was a truly wonderful person – full of kindness, goodness and gentleness. She had a fun-loving spirit and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, connecting with God, crocheting blankets for loved ones, participating in Special Olympics and listening to music.
She bravely and courageously battled liver disease as she awaited the possibility of receiving a liver transplant. Despite her illness, she found joy in the simple things in life that could bring a smile back to her face. To honor her life and memory, please consider becoming an organ donor.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, June 27th at 11am at Victory Christian Center, Everett, WA.
She is survived by her four children; Lee (Mechelle) Phillips, Melissa (Christopher) Phillips-Hagedorn, Justin (Michelle) Phillips, and Amanda (Dan) Phillips-Sherritt; eight grandchildren Trevor, Ryan, Caitlyn, Justin Jr., Jasmine, Madailien, Sabrina, Jesse; her ex-husbands Ivan Phillips and Kevin Rourke, and her mom, Margery Jones, and two brothers, Chris (Khannie) and Tim (Kari) Jones.
