In Loving Memory of Carolyn Ann Ivey
Carolyn Ann Ivey of Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2024, at the age of 67, with those who loved her deeply by her side.
Born on March 8, 1957, to Bobby L. Lipscomb and Bobbie L. Henson, Carolyn was a cherished daughter, a devoted sister, and a compassionate friend. As one of five siblings, her family roots ran deep, and she carried on those connections throughout her life.
Graduating from high school in 1975, Carolyn’s nurturing spirit guided her to Penn Valley Community College, where she earned her degree in nursing in 1987. Over the course of her 22-year career, Carolyn exemplified the true essence of a caregiver, offering not just medical care but emotional support and kindness to everyone she encountered. Her gentle touch and empathetic heart left a lasting impact on all who were lucky enough to be in her presence.
In 1977, Carolyn married, John Michael Ivey Sr., and together they welcomed their son, John Michael Ivey Jr., who became the light of her life. Carolyn’s joy was magnified by the births of her grandchildren, Jaylen, Jordan, Mya, and Aliyah, who were truly the light of her life. Carolyn loved shopping and crafting, but her greatest pleasure came from creating beautiful memories with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Carolyn’s legacy is carried on by her son John Ivey Jr. and his wife Lindsey Ivey; her treasured grandchildren Jaylen Ivey, Jordan Ivey, Mya Ivey, and Aliyah Ivey; her loving sister Ella Cunningham; and her devoted brother John Wynn Jr. She also leaves behind special nieces Erica Goodman and Chrissy Belcher, special nephew Mark Cunningham, and a large extended family who felt her boundless love.
Preceding her in death are her father Bobby L. Lipscomb, her mother Bobbie L. Henson, and her brothers James Lipscomb and Harold Lipscomb. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at Haven of Rest Baptist Church on June 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM, located at 2637 E 28th St, Kansas City, MO 64128. A repass will follow immediately after the service at the same location.
In our moments of grief, we find comfort in the words of scripture. John 14:1-3 which offers us reassurance: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
We also find hope in John 11:25-26: “Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Carolyn Ann Ivey’s legacy is one of unwavering love, selfless care, and enduring faith. Her memory will be a beacon of light and a source of comfort, reminding us all of the beauty of a life dedicated to love and service. She will forever be in our hearts, a testament to a life beautifully lived and a soul deeply cherished.
