Celebrating the Life of
December 25, 1940 — August 17, 2024
On August 17, 2024, Carol May (Kuiken) Macaluso passed away peacefully after a very sudden decline in her health. She was only 83 years of age. Carol was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carol, the eldest of nine children, was born on December 25, 1940, to Jessie and Bernard Kuiken in Paterson, New Jersey. Her early jobs included working as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company and as an office assistant at Norda, Flavor, and Fragrance Specialties. But her greatest job and accomplishment was being a homemaker, a wife, and a mother. She was strong and always striving to make everything better. She enjoyed soap operas, crocheting, Nascar, and decorating her home. She always ensured her home was more than a roof over her head but a warm, inviting place for everyone to enter.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Daniel; their children Joanne (Steve), Valerie (William), Lorraine (Charlie), and Susan (Doug); ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Ed (Lynn), John (Joanne), and Bill (Susan); one sister, Dee; nieces, nephews, cousins, many caring friends, and her beautiful dog Teddy.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Bernard; her son Daniel; three brothers, Butch, Chuck (Linda), and Stephen; and one sister Marianne (Ronald).
Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is somberly felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply. The family truly appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make contributions to our memorial fund, Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue, in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of life will be held at noon on September 28, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany in Whippany, NJ, with a repass at the church following the interment.
If Carol were to leave one legacy behind, it would be for you to go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. As she held all of us in her heart, she will live in a special place in our hearts forever. May God Bless Carol.

My deepest sympathies to Dan and family as well as all who had the great fortune to have Carol in their lives. Carol and Dan have been my neighbors for 5 years. They quickly became my neighborhood besties. Carol and I had long and great conversations about NASCAR, the soaps we both loved and our love for Yellowstone. Carol wanted a small dog after meeting my Bear and Koda. I remember her opening the car window to call out to me that she was going to pick up a puppy (Teddy). 💗. She had the biggest smile on her face that will last a lifetime for me. I will miss you dearly my sweet neighborhood bestie. I was very blessed by your friendship. Love you forever and always 💕

Puppy Love

Carol, you were spunky, funny, and so full of life when you were our neighbor in Laurel Ridge in Boone, NC. Your Goldens were as energetic as you were and we had fun admiring, yelling at, and loving on our pups. Wishing Dan and your family peace as they go through the grief of missing you.
No words can express how my heart aches. I would give anything to hear my mom say, "I love you more," just one more time. I am blessed that I was able to say those words to her about 100 times before she peacefully passed by my side. I miss you, Mom - enjoy snuggling with all your fur babies. I Love You More xo
