Brett Sherman, age 65, passed away on June 2, 2024, in Dade City, Florida. He was a beloved brother, nephew, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Brett was born on November 5, 1958 in Pontiac, Michigan. He moved with his family to Tampa, Florida when his father retired in 1969. He attended Chamberlin High School in Tampa, FL. He spent his working years in the furniture delivery business and landscaping.
Brett was an avid sports fan. His sports loyalty was always to teams from his childhood home in Michigan. The University of Michigan, Lions, Redwings and Tigers logos were all over his clothing. He was a lover of music, especially rock and blues.
Brett is survived by his 3 brothers, Roger Sherman, David W. Sherman Jr. and Perry Sherman, and his sister, Marcy (Sherman) Paintner. His parents, David W. Sherman and Margaret (Kent) Sherman, preceded him in death. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Wow we were soooo young!
I literally have thousands of memories of Brett, choosing a memory seemed like it would be hard. It really wasn't. Brett understood the value of friendship. I don't think he ever forgot to wish me a Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas or Happy New Year. He almost never forgot to call me back, even if I didn't leave a message. We never went more than a week or so without seeing one another or just letting me know how things were going by phone call. I will miss my bro'.

Brett with his two older brothers Dave and Roger. We will miss Brett very much, we had fun times together up in Michigan and Florida. Brett loved the Woodward cruise in Michigan and Tarpon Springs in Florida.
Brett stayed with me for a while in 2015. One morning while walking my little Shih Tsu and Maltese dogs, a friendly graying Boxer ran across the street to meet us. She had a collar and tag, but no owner was in sight. She was not traffic-aware and nearly got hit. She followed us home. No way would I attempt to leash a stray 50+ pound Boxer and hope to walk her through the neighborhood to find her owner. Brett to the rescue! He got some chicken out of the frige and enticed her. He leashed her and started walking down the sidewalk. Sure enough, a man was walking up the street looking for his runaway dog. He told Brett he had adopted her last week. Today was a good day for a man and his newly adopted dog.

Brett getting a pic of one of the cats that followed him. Cats just loved the dude.
Brett was a brother to me. I loved Brett and he loved me. I have dozens of cousins but Brett was the closest to my age witt the most in common. 1 1/2 years apart. Mostly we liked to laugh. We stayed in regular contact our whole lives. Seems right to mention Perry because he was the best friend, brother and in reality a father figure in many ways to Brett. My two cousins Perry and Brett were always a team. I am sad to lose Brett. Thankful to Perry and I know aunt Margret who loved Brett more than anyone could love will be proud of Perry and hopefully in spirit mother abs son can be reunited in spirit.

My absolute favorite picture of me and Brett, my first buddy, brother and lifetime friend. I will miss my buddy; he meant a lot to me.
