Celebrating the Life of
November 12, 1939 — February 15, 2024
In Loving Memory of Brenda Faye Nissim
Brenda Faye Nissim, a devoted wife, bird enthusiast, and social butterfly, passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on November 12, 1939, in Los Angeles to Joseph and Eve Stanman, Brenda's life was marked by a deep love for her family, a passion for birds, and lover of a good party.
Brenda was initially married to Don Hellman until his passing, and in 1984, she found love again with Jacob "Jack" Nissim until his passing in 2013. Together, Brenda and Jack shared a unique bond as avid bird lovers. Their home in Winnetka was a sanctuary for various bird species, including ostriches, rheas, and parrots. Brenda served as the board president of their bird club, bringing her skills as an accountant to efficiently manage the club's finances.
Beyond her avian interests, Brenda was an avid reader and a globetrotter. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore Japan, Taiwan, and nearly every state in the U.S. She loved hosting parties and creating spaces for friends and family to gather, share meals, and create memories together.
Brenda is survived by her nieces, Monique Tula and Erica Johnson, great nephew Christian Tula, great-nieces Denise Muralles and Jazmin Ortiz, and many other descendants of the Libart family. Her legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life will be carried on by those who knew her.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on March 30, 2024, from 3-5 pm at Lanikai Lane Community Room, 6550 Ponto Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Brenda's behalf to the San Diego Audubon Society, reflecting her commitment to preserving and appreciating the beauty of nature.
