Celebrating the Life of
July 29, 1985 — August 12, 2022
Ashley suddenly became ill this July. Before anyone could figure out what was wrong, she was in the ICU. We spent longer not knowing, than we did knowing. She was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer less than a week before we had to say goodbye. Ashley had just turned 37, though she was very good at saying 27 instead. She kept a lot of us young that way. Her presence was always known and will never be forgotten.
There will be a memorial service for Ashley on October 7th at the Norman P. Murray Community Center in Mission Viejo.
This memorial page is a work in progress.
We would love to see your pictures and videos and hear your stories.
You can also email me at [email protected]
Please share a photo or video, or post a heartfelt condolence to the family.

Ashley and Sharon at the Gutierrez house celebrating Aunt Roses 94th Birthday

Dancing with Susie.

Ashley would always like babies and little kids. She would see strollers and say, "ah, cute." She loved being an aunt to her cousin's kids and was so excited for her cousin Jenny to have her first baby. Ashley always wanted to buy them presents, even when they weren't to be born for months. Even just a baby she didn't know, born down the street.

Ashley loved this dress so much I still remember how she twirled in circles to show off her dress. I remember how delighted she was that evening...

Ashley is either thinking "take home," or she got some for her mom too. Ashley would always take two items from a candy dish. One for herself and one to give to her mom or a friend. (picture from Rose Gutierrez)

Ashley featured in the Orange County Register. In case she didn't tell you, Ashley always hit a home run and would demonstrate with a swing and sound of a bat, along with a kick.

Always carrying a million bags

Ashley and her teammates taking time out for a photo. She always had the biggest smile on the field 💕

Ashley was always the happiest one on my soccer team growing up. I was fortunate enough to work with her as an adult, hanging out with her at home and in the community. I remember her loving on her cats and showing me all her special momentos in her room. When she was ready to leave the house there was barely time to put my shoes on! She was off and running and full of energy! The biggest brightest smile on earth. You are so loved Ashley! It was a great life. ❤️

Ashley would shock me at the park, over and over, and did so once more when she was in the hospital.

Getting an Ashley head shot for a Christmas ornament.

I think there was supposed to be Christmas decorations in the background, but I'm not seeing them.

Randomly found a person making balloons.

Freshly airbrushed tattooed looking at Halloween costumes.

Birthday train ride!

Ashley and I found this little guy while walking her dog, Allie. No one claimed him, so after a few weeks I had to come up with a name for my new dog . . . Dingo!

Ceramics at the Sawdust Festival.

Getting our nails done. Once I took Ashley to get her nails done for her birthday and a stranger ended up paying for it. There was something about Ashley that could bring out the best in people.

We were always goofing around

Loved volunteering with the kittens!

Ashley and Chatterbox

Ashley volunteering for Meals On Wheels. She would say, "People hungry?" "lunch here," and when she gave them their hot meal she would say, "enjoy!"

I thought Ashley was looking particularly fashionable this day.

Ashley had a special relationship with all my pets. She was also the only person who could name all of them at any given time.

Ashley volunteered for the Pet Rescue Center for years before their program closed. She gave a lot of dogs and cats much needed attention until they found their forever homes.

Ashley LOVED getting airbrush tattoos at the Sawdust Festival by a man named Starr. She would get hearts, Tinkerbell, then stuck with Ariel. She would show it off to strangers and they would always "ooo" and "aw."

One year we took the train for Ashley's birthday up to Fullerton to have lunch.

My condolences to you (Kate), Sharon and family. ASHLEY was special, not because of her diabilities; but because she was Ashley. An amazing person, who could bring a smile to our faces in a heartbeat. Her love and warmth will be with us Always.
Dearest Sharon (and all of Ashley’s wonderful extended family), Words can’t express what a joy and pleasure it has been to be a part of Ash’s life for these past 12 years. Her sweet spirit, colorful light, & unbridled love for everyone & everything was uncontainable and contagious. She had a wonderful gift for bringing joy into other’s lives. I’m a much happier (and sillier) person for having been part of just some of her adventures (multi colored hair, tattoos, crazy hair, shocks from metal slide, splashing and jumping in the lake, water balloon fights, window down in car wash, and many more) Ash’s light may have faded early, but I’m hoping that it might help a little that “Those we hold in our arms for a little while, are in our hearts forever”. I will always carry Ash with me as I know you will too. My heartfelt condolences and love, Victoria
Ashley will be missed...so many things remind me of her. Everytime I toss a plastic water bottle into our recycle trash bin I think of Ashley...oh how she loved to recycle :-) Ashley use to make some big bucks doing that. Her love for Taco Bell and her quesadilla nom! Ashley could never get enough of that lol Then at softball she sure loved playing softball but then was it the game or the fact that snack was after the game lol Gotta love her so many memories...she always had a lotd to say about her pets or her moms brand new car! How many hyears old was that new car? Ashley thank you for your bright smile and festive hair it was a joy to see your rainbow hair that was our favorite color. Melinda and I will think of you often and never forget you.
We always had the best times together! & that laugh was always the best ❤️
Ashley has been our friend for many years and she is the person in our group who we talked with the most. She opened her home to Courtney many times and we loved the way she put puzzles together with a big huge smile. We love how she spoke so highly in love about her mom and brightened our day every time we saw her. She is in a special place in our hearts set aside only for her and will be forever. We will miss her but Heaven gained the brightest star as she dances with her unicorns in her rainbow of light.
The life of the party
Loved this girl! ❤️
Ashley was fun, always enthusiastic with a twinkle in her eye! I will miss her bubbly (and sometimes feisty) personality. Christmas and her birthday were big occasions with Ashley- so much joy! Love her 💖
