Celebrating the Life of
October 13, 1958 — March 30, 2026
Arthur Depriest Underwood Jr., affectionately known as “Junebug” to family and “A.D.” to friends, departed this life on March 30, 2026, at the age of 67.
He was the son of the late Arthur D. Underwood Sr. and Lenora W. Underwood of Chester, South Carolina.
Arthur was a skilled electrician, proudly following in the footsteps of his father, dedicating his life to his craft. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Electrical Engineering. A.D. was known for his vibrant spirit, laughter, and unmistakable presence. His charisma and warmth brought him friends across South Carolina, Maryland, and beyond.
Junebug had a deep love for music, especially the sounds of P-funk, and was an outstanding DJ on the radio earlier in life. A.D. was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and had a great appreciation for history. Above all, his greatest pride and joy was his only child, his daughter, Chanel. He took immense pride in her accomplishments and looked forward with great joy to her upcoming graduation from Howard University this May and her wedding this August. A.D. was full of life and had a way of bringing a smile to the face of everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Chanel Milan Underwood; his former wife of 19 years Kim Goodwine Underwood, his siblings, Gwendolyn “Bib” Colvin, her husband Rev. David Colvin, Alex Underwood, his wife Angel Underwood; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
