Celebrating the Life of
Andrew J. Bartlett, aka Andy, 37, resided in Los Angeles, and passed away on 12 May 2026, at a hospital in Southern California due to complications following cardiac arrest.
A native of the Golden State, Andy was born in La Mesa, CA in 1988 and baptized at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Andy grew up with a military family lifestyle, moving frequently, making friends quickly, and seeing sights on a global scale, living abroad in Japan (twice) and Iceland. He attended numerous public and Department of Defense (DoD) schools until settling with his mother and attending Tate High School in Cantonment, FL. Andy relished the Tate Marching Band, their performances, and hard work on the field and in the music room. Andy graduated with the Aggies in 2007. He then attended Pensacola Junior College (PJC) and obtained an Associate of Arts in Music in 2009. While at PJC, he was the Music Department's Student of The Year during his freshmen year.
A lifelong musician and music enthusiast, Andy played the trombone, piano, guitar, various percussion instruments and sang. In a long history of performance, he started his first rock band in DoD high school, Keflavik Iceland, and as a trio engaged in a battle of the bands against active-duty and adult competitors, unleashing their furious Black Sabbath cover of Paranoid. He started another rock band while at Tate HS, and performed in Tate’s Jazz Band, in addition to the marching band. Further, he played trombone in the Pensacola Civic Band and numerous ensembles while at PJC. In Los Angles, he was recorded live on stage and had offers to perform in studio. His zest for getting his "chops" on the trombone or piano were memorable to those within earshot.
Andy enjoyed the outdoors. An avid walker, he put in many miles each day on the streets of Los Angeles and the boardwalks. Although not a fisherman himself, he'd accompany family members, especially his grandparents and father, on their outings whether that was an afternoon or all-night event. He loved the ocean, settling in Los Angeles and spending long hours at Santa Monica pier and surrounding boardwalks abreast the Pacific Ocean.
He was a life-long reader and audio book enthusiast. He was never shy of asking for a new book and always had a novel or educational series on his mind, from Game of Thrones to Reformed Systematic Theology.
Andy was baptized Episcopal, but attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church during his youth, and several other denominations over the years. At, St. Luke's he participated in the youth musical ensembles and conducted the youth Bell Choir. Open minded and curious, he searched for his answers through multiple sources his entire life.
He will be held in remembrance by his loving mother (Jane Bartlett), father (Russ Bartlett), sisters (Angie Bell and Carla Bartlett), great-aunts (Martha Trammell, Fledia Morris, Linda Griffin), aunts (Laura Armstrong, Sharon Moorhead), and nephews (Dash, Rip, and Winston Shilkett).
A memorial service will be held online at a future date. Please consider donating to the various homeless shelters in the Pensacola area.
Andy, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Thanks to everyone supporting, contributing, and attending this endeavor. Special thanks to my sister Laura and her husband Mickey for assisting me down this path and keeping me focused on taking the inevitable actions the situation dictates . Shar/Jim, we are grateful you could put together the broken pieces of hearts and minds on Pentecost. Andy, I have a place for you in my heart, locked away, where your memory will exist until we meet again...
It’s a tough day to bid your child farewell and ease his journey to the next life. I will take comfort in knowing that Andy is now at peace. May his family rest easy in that knowledge as well.
