With heavy hearts, we are here to announce the passing of Al Gittens.
Al Gittens will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, community organizer, and friend.
Al Gittens was born and raised in Belmont, Trinidad. He immigrated with his wife and children to Brooklyn, New York, in the 1970s. He worked as a security guard for Trump Tower until he retired and relocated to Port Richey, Florida.
He married Eutilda Stephen in 1966. They enjoyed 48 years before she passed away in 2014.
Al was a strong believer in Christ. He was always eager to share his faith and love for Christ with others. He chose to honor God through community service. He spent many years volunteering for Meal on Wheels. He also managed the food pantry at his church Calvary Chapel Worship Center in Port Richey, Florida. He loved sports and was an avid fan of tennis, baseball, cricket, and WWE wrestling. He was also well liked for his strong sense of humor and light-hearted nature. His favorite place in the world was the buffet other than church.
He is survived by his five children: Ellis Gittens, Dawn Gittens, Carlien Gittens, Elizabeth Hinds, and Al Gittens Jr.
His grandchildren are: Shakira Gittens, Cassie Gittens, Carlton Gittens, Chanda Barnes, Douglas Gittens, Daniel Grant, Crystal Grant, Chanelle Robinson, Christopher Grant, Jayden Gittens, Jayla Gittens, and Jaelin Gittens.
His great-grandchildren are Saniyah Edwards, Terrance Moore, Khristopher Moore, Keira Gittens, Joshua Gittens, Brianna Barnes, Noah Barnes, and Dylan Barnes
He was truly a unique person. He will be missed. To know him is to love him.

Family

It was Genny and my good fortune to know both Al and his lovely wife Eutilda when we were neighbors on Tamworth in Port Richey Florida. Over the years we visited often, saw a few baseball games, visited nearly every day and worked together some on house projects. I missed Al when he and Coleen moved to Arizona. “It’s very hot here Ron”. We visited once and sadly I called Al too few times. I pray that Al is at peace and is reunited with Eutilda for eternity. Forever your neighbor. I miss you my friend.
