Celebrating the Life of
May 29, 1944 — May 4, 2023
Adam was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 29, 1944, and passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023, at the age of 78. He was a proud veteran, a former professional baseball player for the San Francisco Giants, and a beloved figure in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Starting at the original Duke's in Waikiki as a doorman, and for nearly 25 years, he worked at the Kahala Hilton. There he served many years as the maître d' of the Hala Terrace (home of the Danny Kaleikini Show), leaving an indelible mark on all he encountered.
Outside of his impressive career, Adam was an avid golfer, a devoted L.A. Rams fan, and he cherished spending time at the beach with his dog, Kiko. A true guardian of his local parks in Hawaii Kai, Adam would often volunteer his time to uphold their beauty for all to enjoy.
Adam was a devoted father to his three children - Jason, Joshua, and Jamie, and a loving husband to his wife, Carole, for nearly 52 years. Affectionately known as "Papa" to his four grandkids, he also held a special place in his large family as the second oldest of nine siblings; Moani, Harry, Peggy, Iwa, and Sam survive him.
Remembered for his generosity, Adam leaves a legacy deeply rooted in kindness, dedication, and unwavering love. His life, a testament to the profound impact of service and compassion, continues to echo in the hearts of his family and community.

It was a beautiful eulogy and a moving mass!

Adam was the classiest, and kindest person I have ever met. His passing leaves us with a heavy heart. He was a wonderful human being that brought joy into our lives.
Dear Carole, I thank you for all these 47 years where you have been patient, kind and tolerant of me and the rest of Adam’s Angels - as he affectionately called us. Whatever the project or need he was surrounded, supported and sometimes scolded by one if not all of us. He was a dear friend and indeed my Huggie Bear. Not many knew where that nickname came from or why. Well picture him at the door of the Hala Terrace in his custom made black silk tuxedo. And standing next to him was a shorter version of Adam in a standard brown Kahala tuxedo. To me Mel & Adam were the living version of cartoon characters Booboo and Yogi. Mel didn’t mind my calling him Booboo. I didn’t think Adam would take kindly to being referred to as Yogi the Bear. So I called him Huggie-Bear. He never complained but no one else called him that. It was just our thing. But you should also know that Adam had a gentle and kind side too. He not only gave me hugs and kind words of encouragement and support, he did the same for everyone in his expansive circle of employees, co-workers, customers, friends and family. Adam was and will always be forever in our hearts and will live on in our fondest memories. I look forward to his greeting me at the door of that great 5star restaurant in Heaven.
Adam, is definitely missed. He was one of the kindest human beings I have had the privilege of knowing. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. I miss you my dear friend.
